How to delete all your screenshots on iPhone

Updated · For iOS 18 to iOS 27

Short answer

Open Photos, go to Collections › Media Types › Screenshots, tap Select, drag to select or select all, then tap Delete. Favorite anything you want to keep first. Deleted screenshots stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.

Delete screenshots in bulk

  1. Open Photos and tap Collections. On iOS 18, scroll down to Media Types.
  2. Tap Media Types, then Screenshots.
  3. Tap Select. Drag your finger across the grid to select many at once.
  4. Tap the Delete button and confirm.

Before you delete everything, scroll through and favorite any screenshot you need, like a boarding pass, a receipt or a recipe. Then you can select the rest without worrying about those.

Screen recordings are in the same place, under Media Types › Screen Recordings. They're usually far bigger than screenshots and rarely worth keeping.

Hide screenshots from your library

If you want screenshots out of the way rather than gone, tap the Sort and Filter button in the library, then View Options, and turn off Screenshots.

Doing it with SlashPhotos

SlashPhotos splits screenshots in two. Old screenshots are over 90 days old and were never favorited or edited, so they're almost always safe to clear. Recent screenshots are the last 90 days, for a quicker look. Screen recordings get their own group, with their sizes shown.

Questions

Can I stop my iPhone saving screenshots to Photos?

Not entirely. But if you only need a screenshot for a moment, tap its preview right after taking it and delete it from there when you're done, so it never stays in your library.

Do screenshots take up much space?

Each one is small, but thousands add up to gigabytes. Screen recordings are the bigger problem: a few minutes can be hundreds of megabytes.
