How to find the videos taking up space on your iPhone

Updated · For iOS 18 to iOS 27

Short answer

Photos can't sort videos by size. Open Collections › Media Types › Videos and tap the Info button on a clip to see its size, starting with the longest ones. To see every video ranked by size, you need an app that reads the file sizes for you.

Why videos fill your iPhone

Video is most of a full library. A 3-minute clip in 4K at 60 fps can be around 1 GB, the space of hundreds of photos. On most phones, the ten biggest videos free more space than every duplicate and screenshot combined.

Find big videos in Photos

  1. Open Photos, tap Collections, then Media Types › Videos.
  2. Each thumbnail shows the clip's length. Long clips are almost always the biggest.
  3. Open a video and tap the Info button to see its file size, resolution and frame rate.

Length is a rough guide, not a rule. A 2-minute 4K60 clip is far bigger than a 5-minute 720p one. Slow-motion clips and screen recordings can also be surprisingly large.

Delete, or shrink

You don't have to delete a video to get most of its space back. A 4K video converted to 1080p keeps the moment and looks the same on a phone screen. See how to compress a video on iPhone.

Doing it with SlashPhotos

SlashPhotos lists every video over 100 MB, biggest first, with its size, so the ones worth dealing with are at the top. From there you can delete a video or make a smaller 1080p copy of it. Videos under 3 seconds, usually a tap on record by mistake, get their own group too.

No. Photos sorts by date added or date captured only. You can check one item's size at a time with the Info button.

How big is a minute of 4K video on iPhone?

It depends on the frame rate and format. Settings › Camera › Record Video shows an estimate for each option on your iPhone. 4K at 60 fps is the largest common setting.
